Honor the radiant legacy of St. Rose Venerini, an Italian saint whose vision transformed education for girls across Italy. In this ornate and dignified portrait, she is depicted in her religious habit, gazing with contemplative serenity. Before her lies an open book and a rosary, symbolizing the fusion of prayer and learning that marked her vocation.
A golden halo encircles her head, while intricate scrollwork, a blooming white rose, and a grand backdrop of Italian churches emphasize her role as both contemplative and reformer. This elegant print is a tribute to a woman whose courageous yes shaped the future of Catholic education.
Short Biography:
St. Rose Venerini (1656–1728) was born in Viterbo, Italy, and initially entered a convent before discerning a greater call—to educate young girls in the faith. She opened Italy’s first public school for girls under Church approval and dedicated her life to forming hearts and minds in virtue and truth.
Despite opposition, she persevered, founding over 40 schools across Italy. Her educational model became the foundation for many future Catholic school systems. She was canonized by Pope Benedict XVI in 2006.
