Short Biography:

St. Rita of Cascia (1381–1457) was born in Roccaporena, Italy. Though she desired religious life, she was married at a young age to a violent man. Through her patience and faith, she helped convert him. After his death and the loss of her two sons, Rita entered the Augustinian convent at Cascia.

There she lived in deep union with Christ, receiving a mystical wound from His crown of thorns and becoming renowned for her holiness and miraculous intercessions. She is invoked as the patron saint of impossible causes, reconciliation, and abused wives.
