Short Biography:
St. Pedro Calungsod (1654–1672) was a teenage catechist and lay missionary from the Visayas region of the Philippines. At just 17, he accompanied Jesuit missionaries to Guam to evangelize the Chamorro people. Amidst growing tensions, Pedro and the priest he served, Fr. Diego Luis de San Vitores, were martyred for defending the faith and baptizing a local infant.
Pedro died holding to his belief in Christ, refusing to renounce his mission. Canonized in 2012, he is now a symbol of youthful holiness, Filipino pride, and unwavering courage in the face of persecution.
