Short Biography:
St. Joseph of Arimathea was a wealthy and respected member of the Jewish council and a secret follower of Jesus. After the Crucifixion, he bravely approached Pontius Pilate to request the Body of Christ. He provided his own new tomb in which to bury Jesus, fulfilling prophecy and honoring the Lord with utmost devotion. In some traditions, he is also remembered as a missionary who brought the Gospel to distant lands.
He is venerated as a model of holy courage, reverent charity, and unwavering loyalty to Christ in His most sorrowful hour.
