Short Biography:
St. John the Baptist de Rossi (1698–1764) was born in Italy and became a diocesan priest renowned for his humble, tireless service to Rome’s most vulnerable—especially the homeless, sick, and imprisoned. Though of delicate health himself, he preached, heard confessions, and visited hospitals daily.
He refused all honors and lived simply, devoting his life to works of mercy. His confessional was always open, his arms always ready to lift up the weary, and his hands often clasped in the Rosary.
He was canonized by Pope Leo XIII in 1881 and remains a powerful model of priestly charity and service.
