St. John the Baptist - Voice in the Wilderness

$5.00

This stirring portrait captures the wild holiness and prophetic majesty of St. John the Baptist, the voice crying out in the wilderness. Draped in a weather-worn tunic, holding the golden scallop shell—the ancient symbol of baptism—John looks heavenward with eyes ablaze with mission. At his side, a lamb gently rests, echoing his proclamation: "Behold the Lamb of God!"

With the Jordan River winding behind him and the Spirit descending like a dove, this artwork brings to life the sacred calling of the last and greatest prophet—the one who prepared the way for Christ.

Short Biography:
St. John the Baptist was the cousin of Jesus and the final prophet of the Old Testament era. Chosen before birth to announce the coming of the Messiah, John lived a life of radical poverty and penance in the desert. He baptized countless souls in the Jordan River, calling all to repentance, and ultimately baptized Jesus Himself—witnessing the revelation of the Trinity. He was martyred by Herod for speaking the truth without compromise.

He is honored as the forerunner and herald of the Word, whose entire life pointed toward the Lamb of God.
