Short Biography:
St. Ignatius of Loyola (1491–1556) was a Spanish soldier who, after being wounded in battle, underwent a profound conversion while reading the lives of the saints. He left behind his former ambitions and gave himself entirely to the service of Christ.
He founded the Society of Jesus (Jesuits) in 1540, an order dedicated to education, evangelization, and total obedience to the pope. His Spiritual Exercises became a foundational guide for discernment and interior renewal.
A master of contemplation in action, Ignatius formed generations of saints, missionaries, and scholars who transformed the world for Christ.
