This ultra-lifelike watercolor portrait of St. Henry II, the only canonized Holy Roman Emperor, captures the majesty of royal power united with deep holiness. Robed in crimson and gold, St. Henry is crowned yet humble, holding the orb and staff not as symbols of dominion, but of stewardship under Christ. In his left hand, he presents a model of Bamberg Cathedral, a lasting testament to his devotion to the Church and monastic renewal.

Surrounded by a golden halo inscribed with sacred Latin calligraphy and framed by fleur-de-lis, this artwork honors Henry’s legacy as a just ruler, spiritual reformer, and saintly statesman. His noble gaze reflects a ruler who governed not for earthly glory, but for the Kingdom of God.

Short Biography:
St. Henry II (973–1024) was crowned Holy Roman Emperor in 1014 and canonized in 1146. A devout Benedictine oblate and reformer, he used his imperial authority to protect the Church, establish monasteries, and support papal authority. Alongside his wife, St. Cunegonde, he embraced a holy marriage marked by chastity and charity. Henry built Bamberg Cathedral as a spiritual and political center for the Church. His feast day is July 13.
