Step into the bold missionary zeal of St. Francis Xavier, co-founder of the Jesuits and one of the Church’s greatest evangelists. In this radiant portrait, he is shown along the shores of Asia, preaching the Gospel to the multitudes, his eyes lifted in prayerful confidence to heaven.
Wearing his simple Jesuit habit and holding a crucifix close to his heart, St. Francis is surrounded by tropical waters, palm trees, and native converts — a powerful reminder of his fearless travels through India, Japan, and beyond. A golden halo and ornate baroque-style frame highlight his sanctity and apostolic legacy.
This sacred artwork honors the fire of the Gospel that burns in every missionary soul.
Short Biography:
St. Francis Xavier (1506–1552) was born in the Kingdom of Navarre (now part of Spain). A brilliant student at the University of Paris, he became one of the first companions of St. Ignatius of Loyola and helped found the Society of Jesus (Jesuits).
Filled with zeal for souls, he was sent as a missionary to India, Japan, and Southeast Asia. He baptized thousands, established Christian communities, and preached to those who had never heard the name of Christ. He died en route to China and is considered one of the greatest missionaries since the time of the Apostles.
Canonized in 1622, he is the patron of foreign missions and a model for evangelists everywhere.
