In this reverent artwork, St. Elizabeth is shown holding a crucifix and a book — symbols of her deep love for Christ and her pioneering work in Catholic education. She stands before the early American-style convent she helped establish, framed by blossoming gardens and a golden halo that reflects her radiant sanctity and strength of soul.

With rich Renaissance tones and a gold-ornate border evoking the sacred style of illuminated icons, this piece is perfect for honoring one of America’s greatest Catholic heroines.

Short Biography:

St. Elizabeth Ann Seton (1774–1821) was born in New York into a prominent Episcopalian family. After the death of her husband, she converted to Catholicism — a decision that led to social rejection but spiritual greatness.

She went on to found the Sisters of Charity of St. Joseph’s, the first community for religious women established in the United States, and opened the first free Catholic school in the country, laying the foundation for Catholic education in America.

She was canonized by Pope Paul VI in 1975 and is celebrated as a patroness of Catholic schools, widows, and the United States.
