Short Biography:
St. Catherine of Alexandria (c. 287–305) was a noblewoman and scholar from Egypt known for her beauty, intellect, and unwavering faith. A convert to Christianity, she confronted Emperor Maxentius for persecuting the Church and publicly debated his pagan philosophers — converting many through her wisdom.
When she refused to renounce Christ or marry the emperor, she was sentenced to death by a spiked breaking wheel. Miraculously, the wheel shattered upon her touch, and she was ultimately beheaded. Angels are said to have carried her body to Mount Sinai, where a monastery in her name still stands.
She is a patron of philosophers, students, and young women, and one of the Fourteen Holy Helpers.
