St. Augustine Zhao Rong & the Martyrs of China
Catholic Digital Art Download
$5.00
This powerful digital watercolor portrait honors St. Augustine Zhao Rong, a former soldier turned Catholic priest and martyr, shown with profound serenity and strength. Dressed in a black cassock with a crucifix clutched firmly in his hand, he stands among the holy martyrs of China—men, women, and children who gave their lives for the Faith. A radiant golden halo illuminates the saint's head, while the inscription "Fidei Victor" ("Victor of the Faith") and Chinese characters for "Faithful unto Death" proclaim their witness.
Framed in traditional gold tones and elegant floral motifs, the image evokes both the nobility of martyrdom and the beauty of Chinese Catholic heritage.
St. Augustine Zhao Rong (d. 1815) was a Chinese soldier who escorted a missionary priest to execution—an encounter that sparked his conversion. He later became a Catholic priest and was arrested, tortured, and beheaded for refusing to renounce the Faith. He is one of the 120 Martyr Saints of China, canonized by Pope St. John Paul II in 2000, representing centuries of Christian witness in China from 1648 to 1930.
