Short Biography
St. Anthony Mary Gianelli was born in Liguria, Italy. A gifted student and passionate preacher, he was ordained at 23 and later became Bishop of Bobbio. In 1829, he founded the Daughters of Mary of the Garden, encouraging the sisters to serve the sick, teach children, and live lives of Marian piety. He died in 1846 and was canonized in 1951 by Pope Pius XII. His legacy lives on through his congregation’s work in rural and underserved communities around the world.
