His gentle, authoritative presence reinforces God's triumph over pain and persecution.
Rich with detail, this portrait captures the sacred moment of peace amidst agony, offering a reminder of faith, healing, and victory through Christ.
St. Agatha of Sicily (c. 231–251 A.D.) was a young Christian virgin martyred during the Decian persecution. Refusing the advances of a Roman official, she was tortured, including the mutilation of her body, but remained steadfast in her faith. According to tradition, St. Peter appeared to her in prison and miraculously healed her wounds. She died shortly after, her soul victorious in Christ. She is one of the most venerated virgin martyrs in the Church.
