This breathtaking digital artwork depicts Our Lady of Pompeii, Queen of the Rosary, enthroned with the Christ Child in a radiant and majestic scene. The Blessed Virgin wears richly embroidered robes of royal blue and crimson, crowned in glory and radiating maternal peace. The Christ Child, seated on her lap and also crowned, extends a rosary—symbol of Mary’s intercession and the Church’s spiritual weapon.
Flanking the Virgin Mary are two great Dominican saints:
St. Catherine of Siena, mystic and Doctor of the Church, shown in prayerful reverence in her white Dominican habit and golden halo.
St. Dominic, founder of the Dominican Order and apostle of the Rosary, kneels humbly in devotion, holding or gazing at the rosary.
In the background, Mount Vesuvius rises behind the iconic Basilica of Pompeii, alluding to the transformation of this place from destruction to a center of Marian miracles. Every detail—the embroidery, the glowing halos, the sacred gestures—speaks to the triumph of prayer, penance, and divine mercy.
About Blessed Bartolo Longo:
Once a fallen-away Catholic who dabbled in occult practices, Blessed Bartolo Longo (1841–1926) experienced a radical conversion through the influence of a Dominican priest. Devoting the rest of his life to spreading the Rosary, he founded the Shrine of Our Lady of Pompeii on the ruins of an ancient pagan city. He built schools, orphanages, and prayer groups, reviving faith in the region and restoring hope to the poor. Declared Blessed by Pope John Paul II in 1980, Bartolo Longo is a powerful witness to the mercy of God and the transforming grace of Mary.
